Range Women's Advocates   
Statistics – 2009

·       Provided direct services to 801 victims of domestic violence: 792 women, 9 men.

170 were under the age of 30, 392 between 30-44, 70 between 45-64, and 5 over 65

·       83 children attended the Children’s Program

·       571 children were affected by violence in their homes

·       Assisted in filing 150 Orders for Protection and 60 Harassment Restraining Orders

·       Attended 180 court hearings; assisted victims in 251 court-related matters

·       Provided transportation to 244 victims, 156 trips

·      Accompanied 122 victims to various appointments, including lawyers, social services, and clinics, etc.

·       Provided safe housing to 17 women and children (7 women and 10 child)

·       102 women attended weekly support groups in Hibbing and Virginia

·       143 people attended abuser education classes

·       98 presentations were given, reaching 2,155 people

·      Received 375 law enforcement contacts

·       Made 897 referrals to various agencies

Safety is always the first concern when doing advocacy.

Advocates offer options. It is the decision of the victim to choose which option is best for them.
